Hive Movers — Migratory Beekeepers Corridor Table

The state rules a load of colonies crosses on the way to the California almond bloom, set out run by run. Every line carries where it came from and the date we checked it. A check that ages is shown one confidence step lower; a check that expires is replaced on the page — never left standing as if it still held.

How to read a line: the words of the rule as published, then the confidence label, the date we checked it, and the source. Not published / not yet checked means the state publishes nothing for that field that we could find — it is shown plainly, never filled in from memory.

Under development — coming soon. Hive Movers is being built out now, ahead of the 2027 almond season. The table below is free to read while we build. Nothing on this site is for sale.

Join the founding list

Hive Movers is just getting started. The corridor table on this page is free to read while we build — and it is still being built out: the state records are being deepened and re-checked, and the packet tools are being finished ahead of the 2027 almond season. Where it is thin, the table says so on the line; your notes below steer what gets built next.

If you run colonies on these runs, put your name on the founding list. Signing up means exactly this: you give us your name and your email, and we send you the sneak peek, progress updates, and the release news. Nothing else — and no money changes hands; there is nothing here to buy.

Founding members use Hive Movers free while it is under development, until it is declared market-ready. When pricing opens, a founder's price locks at the lowest rate Hive Movers is ever offered at, for as long as they stay a member.

Name and email only — that is all this form asks for. We never sell the list.

Season frame — the 2027 almond bloom

The bloom window below is a published range, printed as published. It is a planning frame from the source named on the line, not a call on when any orchard will bloom this season.

Published bloom windowThe almond pollination season begins around Feb. 10 and continues until approximately March 10. This encompasses the early, mid- and late varieties of almonds. (Published typical window, recorded exactly as published — not a prediction for any given season.)Published · Checked Oct 20, 2026 · Source: University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) — 'A Sure Sign of Spring' (Bug Squad)

Loss documentation (ELAP)

The federal Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program is documentation-shaped: the published requirement is part of the frame an operator plans a season inside.

ELAP loss documentation, as publishedProducers must complete and submit a notice of loss and an application for payment to their local FSA office, providing documentation of the losses and the conditions causing the losses; eligible applicants must provide verifiable documentation of the losses. The final date to file a notice of loss and the final date to submit an application for payment is March 1 after the program year in which the loss occurred. Covered honeybee losses are colony, hive, and feed losses due to colony collapse disorder, eligible adverse weather, and other conditions; documentation may include veterinary records, feed and water receipts, purchase records, and other supporting documents. Starting with program year 2026, FSA uses a normal mortality rate of 15% for eligible honeybee colony losses (USDA FSA ELAP program page).Published · Checked Oct 20, 2026 · Source: USDA Farm Service Agency — Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP)

What changed

Nothing has changed yet in the published table. When a rule is re-checked and the new check replaces the old one, the change will be listed here with both check dates.

Collection note, not a rule change: putting this table together surfaced one conflict inside California's own published material — the registration fee in the filed rule and the fee in county letters in circulation differ for an operator at exactly 50 colonies. It is set out in full on the California page. No rule shown in this table changed; two sets of published paper disagree, and the table says which one is the filed rule.

The three runs into the bloom

Northern Plains to Texas holding to California

Canonical circuit per BRIEF section 3 run 1: northern Great Plains honey base, Texas holding yards, west to the California almond bloom. Operators vary by highway; the run records the states, not one road.

Legs, miles and fuel — planning estimates

Set these once — every leg and total on this page re-figures, on every run, and your numbers stay on your device.

LegRoad milesDrive timeFuel (gal)Fuel cost
Bismarck, ND → Pierre, SD208≈4.0 h
Pierre, SD → Lincoln, NE434≈7.7 h
Lincoln, NE → Topeka, KS166≈3.3 h
Topeka, KS → Oklahoma City, OK292≈5.0 h
Oklahoma City, OK → Austin, TX387≈6.8 h
Austin, TX → Santa Fe, NM687≈12.7 h
Santa Fe, NM → Phoenix, AZ480≈9.0 h
Phoenix, AZ → Fresno, CA — the almond bloom590≈10.7 h
Whole run — Bismarck to Fresno3,245≈59.3 h

How these miles were figured — and what they are not. Each leg runs between the two states' capital cities on the road network, except a run's last leg, which ends at Fresno, California — the almond bloom's point in our own records. Road miles and drive times were computed with OSRM, the OpenStreetMap routing engine, on November 1, 2026. Your yards are not in state capitals and your highway is your own, so read these as planning estimates between fixed points — never as your miles, and never as a quote. Fuel for a leg is its road miles divided by your MPG, priced at your diesel price. The defaults until you change them: 6.0 MPG — published Class 8 fleet averages run 6.5–7.5 MPG, but a loaded flatbed of colonies is heavy and pushes air, and loaded heavy rigs are published at 5–6 — and $6.35 a gallon, the U.S. Energy Information Administration's national average on-highway diesel price for the week of October 26, 2026.

BRIEF section 3 run 3: the southbound inbound leg is Washington to Oregon to California. Idaho and Montana are origin states feeding the runs; they are represented in origin_branches rather than forced into a linear order that is not true.

Legs, miles and fuel — planning estimates

Set these once — every leg and total on this page re-figures, on every run, and your numbers stay on your device.

Branches are alternatives, not steps — they are not in the run total above.

Figured the same way as the plains run above: capital to capital on the road network (OSRM, OpenStreetMap data, November 1, 2026), the last leg ending at Fresno — planning estimates, not quotes. Fuel is miles ÷ your MPG × your diesel price; defaults 6.0 MPG and $6.35 a gallon (EIA national average diesel, week of October 26, 2026).
